Into The Thick

Life is not easy nor was it ever meant to be.

Life is life because it is not easy. It is survival that makes life so beautiful. Endless cycles of survival that told each thing what to become to continue it’s chances of survival.

The struggle is not easy, but it is important and necessary. And, because of the that importance and what it creates, it has radiant beauty.

The struggle exists within every organism on this earth and beyond. It is our common thread. It is what forms us and makes us stronger, smarter, more beautiful, more accepting, more compassionate, more…

Not more in the sense of greater, but more in the sense of further down a common path. We are not stacked next to one another, however, we all exist on and travel these common roads…perhaps a single road…The Road.

We are connected through our struggles…we cannot escape it. We are all, In The Thick.

Being in the thick purposes an opportunity…a choice. What will we do? Will we lie down and deny this basic right of living or will we embrace it and see the intricate beauty of the Thick. Will we grow or will we die? Will we choose to grow with the Thick or will we choose to be absorbed back into the Thick?

Although, The Thick is one thing we all share and binds us in equality, each of our own Thick is our own. No one can navigate it for us. We are alone in the wood. However, we are all alone in the wood…we are all In the Thick…this very idea of ALL being in a place of isolated, personal challenge that is our own means we are, in fact, the exact opposite of alone.

The Thick unifies us…it teaches us time and time again that through our pain we must remember empathy. Through failure, we are reminded of success. Through deceit, we know honesty. Through hatred, we know love. Through connection, we are one.

Into the thick, a maze I must go

Branches so twisted a wall seems to grow

Into the thick, light is constricted

The walls keep closing and thoughts are restricted

Further unkept, a den left behind

And from within gaze the monsters in my mind

Untamed beasts I’ve held them inside

Instead I must let go and allow them to thrive

Not forcing them to claw and fill me with rage

But trust them, release them, and open the cage

Into the thick, the struggle must ensue

Giving me strength to find my own truth

Into the Thick is a building body of works that explore the inner trials and tribulations that entangle each of our lives. Like the complexity of the branches in a tree, there is a beauty and reason for the tangle. It is through our struggles that we find strength, hope, and purpose.
